Kansas Fire Equipment Co. Inc. sells, installs and services a wide variety of Industrial Fire Suppression Systems. Choosing from a variety of manufacturers, systems can be designed to meet your individual fire protection needs.

Pre-engineered Systems provide reliable 24-hour fire protection to factories, processing plants and industrial facilities utilizing flammable liquids and other hazardous materials. Industrial Systems are specifically designed for these hazards, and are available in total-flooding for enclosed areas or local applications for open areas.

DRY CHEMICAL FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS

Dry Chemical Fire Suppression Systems are extremely effective low cost automatic fire suppression systems for Class A, B and C fires. The extinguishing agent is stored under pressure using dry nitrogen gas. The system is designed to protect a wide variety

of hazards involving flammable liquids, gasses, wood, paper and energized electrical equipment. The system can be used on many hazards found in any industry.

Dry chemical extinguishing agents work by forming a blanket to exclude oxygen, heat absorption, chemical inhibition or a combination of these depending on which agent is used.

The system can be operated from automatic detection and/or manual actuation. Facilities are provided for shutting down electrical power and shutting down the flow of gas. The detection is by means of specifically rated mechanical fusible links or electric thermal detectors. The basic system consists of Dry Chemical Agent Cylinder(s), Distribution Piping and Nozzles, Control System and/or Releasing Device, Thermal or Fusible Link Detectors, and Accessories.

Benefits of Dry Chemical Fire Protection Systems:

  • UL Listed and FM approved
  • Total Flooding
  • Local Application - Tank side
  • Local Application - Overhead
  • Mechanical or Electrical Detection
  • Low Temperature Total Flooding Application -40F (-40C)

Typical Applications:

  • Hazardous Storage Buildings
  • Spray Booths
  • Dip Tanks
  • Paint Lockers
  • Flammable Liquid Storage Facilities
  • Stock Rooms
  • Printing Machines
  • Mixing Tanks
  • Electrical Motors
  • Pumps
  • Indoor Transformers
  • Wood Finishing Operations

DRY CHEMICAL SYSTEMS FOR GASOLINE STATIONS

Pre-engineered BC rated Dry Chemical Systems are available to handle the unique hazards associated with gasoline pumps and fuel islands.

CARBON DIOXIDE FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS

Carbon Dioxide is a colorless, odorless, electrically nonconductive gas with a density approximately 50% greater than air. It is stored in steel cylinders as a liquid under pressure. When applied to a fire, it provides a blanket of heavy gas that reduces the oxygen content of the atmosphere to a point where combustion becomes impossible. It also provides a cooling effect and leaves no residue. It dissipates into the atmosphere, allowing for rapid cleanup and minimal downtime.
Systems are available in three methods of application: Total flooding, local application or hand hose line systems. Working with your personnel and design engineers, Kansas Fire Equipment and our manufactures will design a system for your specific needs.

Principal Benefits:

  • Low cost installation
  • Low cost maintenance
  • Low cost refilling
